It is effective in cleaning pet hair, crumbs and dust on hard floors, but isn't as effective as the top models when it comes to removing flour from carpet. In our tests, the G30 Edge missed 74% of the dust on hard floors and 26% on carpet which is a bit disappointing.

The G30 Edge is unique in its ability to map your home using an electronic map. This allows it to keep track of the rooms it has already cleaned and avoid returning to those areas, a major frustration with simpler robots that require the use of traditional magnetic tape to mark off zones that aren't allowed.

The G30 Edge also has other conveniences. It has an "Find My Robot" mode that emits loud music until it is found and a directional keyboard that lets you move the robot. It also has an automatic return feature that sends the robot back to its charging station if the battery is low. This is a safety feature.

The Neato Botvac D-Shape is an extremely capable robot that comes with a plethora of smart features. It is able to clean floors well, and can also climb on carpets with a high pile easily. The app comes with advanced features like boundary lines and remote access to the robot when it is in operation, and many other options.

This model is the newest in a long line of robots from Neato and has a distinctive "D" shape when viewed from above. This design has several benefits, including better corner cleaning and a larger dust container than the majority of models. It has some issues on carpets, but it's better than the majority of robots in this price range. The Roomba EVO is also very good at moving between different floor types. It doesn't get stuck on transitions as older models. The dual multi-surface rubber brushes flex to adjust to different flooring and resist getting caught in pet hair.

The i3+ EVO has weaker obstacle avoidance than some of the other robots we test. It repeatedly encountered objects such as pet toys, handbags, and shoes before retracing its route. It also had issues dealing with salt that was coarse which it blew up and around rather than picking up.

The i3+ EVO comes with a host of features that make it well worth the cost over other Roomba models. This includes the ability to self-empty the bin and more advanced control with an app. You can plan cleaning times, set custom routines, and create zones that do not want the robot vacuum cleaner for pet hair to be allowed to enter. The smart scheduling system will suggest extra cleanings during allergy seasons and depending on the routine you follow. Its navigational system is somewhat unstable, however, and often vacuums in erratic lines like diagonals or zigzags rather than parallel to walls.

The vacuum also does a decent job of removing pet hair on carpeting, though it doesn't have the same amount of power as some of our top selections.

However the Roborock S4 Max is better built, takes much less time to recharge than the Shark and offers a wider range of automation and scheduling features and support for zones that are not allowed to be used. We'd still recommend the Shark if you're looking for something cheaper or if you prefer to use your mobile phone to control and monitor rather than a dedicated remote.

5. Bissell SpinWave Wet and Dry

This robot can do both vacuuming and mopping. The two tank system is powerful and can vacuum or mop at the touch of the button. In our tests, it was able to effortlessly switch between surfaces and was great at cleaning pet fur from hardwood floors and carpets. It also includes an edge-sweeping tool that can remove hairs from baseboards and walls.

This robot is another solid pick if you want an affordable robot with extra features. It was able to navigate obstacles with ease in our tests and is controlled via an app or by speaking. It has a large dustbin for messes to be collected before they are full. It can take it up to 166 mins to finish its job however this is more efficient than other robots we have test.

The pricier iRobot J7 comes with a more advanced suite of features and performs better on all surfaces. It also feels better constructed and has a bigger dustbin that charges faster, and is able to navigate obstacles such as electrical cords better.
