The X2 Omni robot vacuum-mop is the latest model in Ecovacs line of hybrid robot vacuum mops. This model that is dry and wet is equipped with the latest AIVI 3D2.0 lidar system Ecovacs, which gives improved mapping and obstruction avoidance. The system uses dual-laser LiDAR which is similar to what you'd find in self-driving cars -- and can scan an area of up to 32 feet in 270 degrees. This results in more precise mapping as well as faster response time and better cleaning accuracy.

It also comes with an alternating mopping mat made of chenille. This makes it much easier to scrub hard-to-clean spots than conventional mopping. In my tests the X2 Omni washed its pad in less than a second and then got to work. I noticed that it was more accurate than other models which seemed to follow a grid around rooms. The X8 Hybrid looks like a regular robotic vacuum cleaner from the top, with its circular shape with sweeping wheels and a raised space for sensors. On the other side, you'll see a motorised floorbrush and a single side brush that moves dust from the edges into the main path of its'mouth.' It's smaller than the main brushes of the iRobot Roomba S9 which I found made it easier to reach under couches and chairs.

The mapping system is quite sophisticated and allows you to set no-mop zones and specific cleaning zones. It has a habit of hitting objects, including its own charging station, and isn't great at navigating over carpets. It was capable of picking up pet hair on bare floors however, and in our tests it took in 89.5 percent of cat litter, which is higher than all but the most Ultimate Ultenic D5s Pro: Powerful - Smart - Efficient robots we've tested.

The X8 Hybrid is controlled via an app, but it also has a set of physical buttons on its base. These buttons allow you to select the cleaning mode, or turn off the robot. These buttons can be used to create no-go areas and access real-time maps. It's also a bit chatty and will tell what it's going to do next (start cleaning) or notify you if something isn't working.

4. ILIFE A4s

This model of high-tech vacuum is able to pick up pet hair, kibble, and other messes with remarkable effectiveness. It also maneuvers perfectly around furniture legs. It also comes with an impressive feature set that includes two cleaning modes as well as a self-emptying dock and a real-time obstacle-avoiding technology. It's Wi-Fi enabled and best controlled through the Neato app where cleaning can be scheduled and the overall maintenance needs monitored. It's a bit expensive, but if you can manage the price, it's an excellent buy for those who wish to be able to leave their homes completely free to perform other tasks or to take care of chores. The A4s Pro also offers a useful auto cleaning mode that boosts suction power to handle tough spills and dirt and it includes an electric ElectroWall which allows you to define boundaries where the robot is not allowed to enter.

This budget-friendly option from a popular upstart brand is the most affordable robot we've ever tested and provides an incredible value for cost. Its navigation system is basic and uses a super-basic random pathing algorithm that isn't equipped with room mapping capabilities, making it less efficient than the other models on this list. It's still able to get under furniture and into the corners. Its mopping mode performed well in our tests, picking up stray hair and other debris.

5. Shark iQ

Shark's iQ may not be as robust as the Roomba S9, but it does a better job overall in getting rid of pet hair on all surfaces. It cleans floors that are bare more efficiently and does a decent job on carpets with a low pile, and it uses smart-pathing navigational technology for superior maneuverability. It also lets you assign it to a specific room, and its sophisticated set of automation features include no-go zones as well as scheduling. It also allows you to stop and restart cleaning sessions, making it perfect for homes with pets.

The self-cleaning brushroll eliminates tangles and can hold up to 30 day's worth of dirt. It has a set of side brushes that are angled to reach into corners, as well as a multi-stage filter system to capture dust, allergens and dander.
